Wood Carved Sea Lion

Made in Bali, Indonesia it was skillfully carved from a "wood rose," a mushroom-like parasitic formation created by a mistletoe plant growing on a chinaberry tree.

These type of carvings were popular about 10 years ago. You don't see them very much anymore. But they do come up once in awhile.

This one I bought for my collection, but decided to give it to my sister who had just acquired a similar piece.
