An English straw opal vaseline bowl. Circa 1900. Shape of the bottom suggests that it could have sat in a metal frame. Decorative or Commercial item? Vaseline composition has an oily yellow appearance and shows well in the light. The opalescent rim is thin and formed well. There is just the faintest suggestion of blue. The bottom is thicker and has a polished pontil. Who made it in England? Did Powell make it?
