Just picked up this framed night photograph of downtown Seattle area showing the Kingdome and Smith Tower.

The Kingdome was opened in 1976. the Seattle Seahawks, Seattle Mariners, Seattle Supersonics, and Seattle Sounders all played there.

The Smith Tower, built in 1914, tower is the oldest skyscraper in the city and was among the tallest skyscrapers outside New York City at the time of its completion.

KINGDOME
The Kingdome (officially the King County Multipurpose Domed Stadium) was a multi-purpose stadium in Seattle's SoDo neighborhood. Owned and operated by King County, the Kingdome opened in 1976 and was closed in 2000. Demolition was done via implosion.

In addition to the major sports teams playing there, the Kingdome hosted many concerts. Including Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, The Who, Foreigner, Madonna, Blue Oyster Cult, The Rolling Stones, Foreigner, Guns N Roses, The Beach Boys, Aerosmith, the Scorpions Metallica and several other bands.

SMITH TOWER
In 1914, Smith Tower became the first skyscraper in Seattle and the tallest building west of the Mississippi River. For more than one hundred years, it has remained a cultural icon of the city.

It was the tallest building west of the Mississippi River until the completion of the Kansas City Power & Light Building in 1931. It remained the tallest building on the U.S. West Coast for nearly half a century, until the Space Needle overtook it in 1962.
