An older friend of mine found this chair in her attic. I gave it a quick look over and didn't see any OBVIOUS markings as to maker. She is selling her home and all this stuff she is finding and we'd like to know something about this chair if possible. She lives in Massachusetts if that has any bearing on anything, Thank you in advance for any info. I dont know why the pictures are sideways. they were right side up when I dragged them over. lol

Looks to be a Hunzinger chair-- very desirable!

There used to be some posted on this site/ an article. Here is one for sale:

      https://www.1stdibs.com/furniture/seating/armchairs/george-hunzinger-aesthetic-movement-spindle-rocking-chair/id-f_20968252/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI7fn_49P97AIVQiCtBh0wqwpVEAQYASABEgLe_vD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

Yours needs some work on the upholstery/ finish, but is worth the effort.

Forgot to mention the back upholstery appears to be a later addition-- original had just the wood back.

Scott, Thank you so much for the thoughts on this chair. Someone else mentioned a Hunzinger. I had never heard of it. Any idea if there is some marking someplace that I should be looking for? What you said about the back upholstery I would have never noticed but since you said that I can see how may have been an add on later. Not sure what we want to do with this yet. Again thanks for the info and the link. I really appreciate it.

Glad to help out-- I am not familiar with any marking by Hunzinger.

      The construction/ look is distinctive.
