    The history I know on this...it came from an antique store owned by my stepmother‘s first husband‘s parents… Yes I understand a lot of steps. The antique store was in Alabama and this was a wedding gift from them to my stepmom and her first husband. Supposedly from late 1700s; however, I find that hard to document.

      It looks like an 1800s English grandfather clock. There are some clock experts here so I'll let them chime in.

      It's old, but perhaps not that old. You should do a search on the Maker's name and location: "JD Caris Gateshead".

      After a brief search it looks like this person made (or assembled) clocks, watches and barometers. Circa would be around 1870-ish.
