I had been looking for one of these items for years, but as a great surprise, a friend gave me the one pictured! He had no idea that I was in search of this vintage advertising piece, so this must have come my way via Divine Intervention!
Mel Allen was "The Voice of The Yankees" for many memorable years. The text on the plaque chronicles some of his well known phrases, and the drawings, by famed NY Daily News Illustrator, Bill Gallo, depict some great Yankee baseball action.
Both Mel Allen and Ballantine Beer have been gone for many years, though a "modern" version of Ballantine, with no connection to its long time home in Newark, NJ is being produced.
Well how 'bout that Ted, what a wonderful gift! Great Yanks picture, and I surely do remember Ballantine beer
