No, It's not a real fossil of a saber tooth tiger. It's a full sized replica. Looks frightening. In life, they must have been a terror to behold.
The Museum Of Natural History in NY city has some of the best prehistoric fossil displays in the world. including a full skeleton of a Smiledon, Brontosoreus, and a skull of a Tyranus Rex.
If you like fossils, and you live within the driving distance of the New York Museum Of Natural History, it's worth the trip
P.S. .... don't hold me responsible for the spelling of these critters, I depend on my wife's editing, and she's not home at the moment......

Those replica skulls are not free. You would like the La Brea Tar Pits which is still an active excavation site. Plus the nearby LA Natural history museum has a very large prehistoric mammal collection. And yes I would like to see the NY museum.

Fort, you will have to come up with more incentive to get me to come to LA again !

I'd love to see the La Brea tar pits and the LA natural History Museum. I would if I didn't have to go to LA.

      Hi yourneverright,
It's more likely that the cave ran like the dickens. These critters were 6' to 7' long and had a terrible superiority complex.
