OK, I'll admit I'm at a total loss to understand what this tiny little ring is/might mean. Anybody gots a further clue for me??
When found I would have sworn it was copper in fact, but further examination (and a couple hrs now of it on my pinkie finger, the only one where it'll almost kinda fit me, automatically polishing it a little bit) suggests otherwise, esp. the only marking inside it reading "14K". (pic 4)
The "96" legend on it is stamped into the band which is uniformly about 1/4" wide, and is filled in with some kind of (unknown to me) blue color, but not any kind of stones/etc inset, just coloring of some sort, which has a now slightly variegated appearance to it whether intended or not.
My first thought was, a class reunion ring from 1996.
Something along those lines occurred to me too fhrjr2, but for the small group of other rings/etc found along with it in the same little box -- all from the estate of an elderly lady who was likely already passed in 1996. However, it doesn't look nearly old enough to have been "1896", nor do I think she would have been old enough to have graduated her high school then...??? (a couple of the other tiny rings *may* be that old, but not this one??) What other "96's" could there be??
THANKS also to fortapache, Newfld, fhrjr2, Brunswick, aura, MALKEY, and vetraio50 for tapping your <love it> buttons for my most recent ring mystery!!
