Here is another little Loetz vase that I was happy to find recently; it is a 'Loetz Cephalonia mit Patinadekor' vase dating to 1902. It is only 4" (10.2cm) tall, but so rich in details. It was designed to look like an ancient Roman glass vase, including the iridescence, the encrustations, and patination seen in very old buried glass. It is made of 'candia' colored glass with coppery colored torn inclusions, and then has an enameled patina applied to the spiral and neck of the vase. I took a picture of the neck in bright natural light to show the details of the enamel. (The straight 'Cephalonia' decor has no painted patina.) It is highly uv reactive under black light and has a finely polished pontil. This little vase came to me from Wales.

      Very nice Michelle - I watched this for a couple of weeks - can't think why I didn't buy : )

Well, the missing bits of spiral on the back were probably why! The dealer was very kind and made a good deal with me. But it is a rare decor, and I didn't mind. I am also pretty handy, and I plan to replace the broken bit with oven dry clay, and paint it to match. It will display well for me then. I usually can't stand chips or anything on my glass, but in this case, I think I can make the spiral repair work well enough for me to be okay with it. :)

Very ingenious .... well done, I considered the same - It is still a very beautiful thing, I'm actually quite envious despite it's little flaws.
