It's a rainy day and there are kids in the house making a house.
American Plastic Bricks from the late 1950s
by Elgo.
These kids had never experienced the joy of building a house that you can easily destroy with one sweep. These don't hold together tightly like Legos.
Ah, the thrill of destruction!
Hey, kid! Get off my roof! You're gonna break your neck!
...or put your eye out!
Very cool,,, now there’s something a kid can build a dream on
Even if he is on the roof
I had a few sets and spent endless hours building houses with these 55 years ago.
My sisters and brothers and I played with these every time we visited Aunt Lillie.
That simple and unmistakable sound of the plastic pieces rattling against the tin ends of the canister brings back the fondest of memories of those weekly visits more than 50 years ago.
