I just got these Compton U set scissors and have been searching for information on this odd adjustment screw does anyone have any information on it? is it something that someone added later on? any information about these scissors such as model number dates value would be greatly appreciated.

The separate screw allows the tension between the two blades with great accuracy. High quality scissors. Nice find.
