Abstract Expressionist Painting Titled "Figure"
Approximately 7" x 5"
With the framing it's 11 3/4" x 13 3/8"
Artist: T.Asia
This is a small abstract I picked up. The mat and frame needs some work, but it's still a cool piece. Another piece that I can't find any information on the artist.
My hobby for about 15 years was attempting to track down and memorialize artists like this for my art collection web site. I identified hundreds of artists and could not identify hundreds of artists.
The address (116 Lake St SW Kirkland WA) is just off Lake Washington and was possibly a gallery. The label suggests this painting was displayed, if not exhibited. Really looks more like a gallery inventory label than an exhibition label. It just so happens that one of my harder to identify artists also had work in galleries in Kirkland, WA. I will see what I can dredge up from my memory. Looks like this address may now be a Starbucks or part of the lot of a current Starbucks.
You might try heating the masking tape with a heat gun or hair dryer to see if you can get it off without impacting the writing under it.
BTW, acrylics first became popular with artists in the early 1960s...
I buy a lot of art for my personal collection. And as you know sometimes we never know who the artist was. Sometimes we are surprised and find that they did many wonderful pieces.
I have another piece I will show soon by Tacoma artist Bunny Halligan. She even had a book of her art published in the late 60s and her art has hung in major companies and galleries. But you can't find a single piece for sale anywhere..I contacted the Tacoma history museum and got some great info..
