I posted this after seeing a post last week of a Kralik centerpiece with a glass chain connecting smaller pieces.

This Venetian Dolphin centerpiece was originally made the same way. It had a glass chain that connected to smaller pieces. If you look at the back of each dolphin head, you will see a clear glass loop. This was where the glass chain connecting to the largest piece.

The centerpiece stands 10 1/2" tall and is in excellent condition. It does have some darkness in the bottom of each dolphin stem, showing that it was actually used to hold flowers.

When I purchased the centerpiece, I didn't know it had anything missing. It is still a favorite in my collection and displays well on its own.

The last picture shows one of my Venetian shelves in a display cabinet.

Love the old master glass of venice. Just saw a dolphin chalice I want...wrong color for me but I just love the glass. It appears the masters who did these things are gone or well on the way. I saw the newer pieces Scott and it appears the dolphins are being done by cane work and not the old method. I so prefer these older style dolphins, dragons, snakes and swans...they just have more character and bear no resemblence to cane work crystal animals which are sold at the dollar store.

Bob-- thanks for looking and commenting.

I am not actively looking to "complete" the piece. I have looked at G & B in the past but haven't lately. If I find some time, I will check them again.

Be sure to check out my other items. I have a couple of other Venetian pieces that may be of interest.

Oh my god... That's ALL Salviati.... One of the top names in Venetian glass
    19. Stillwater Stillwater, 12 years ago
You knew that its all Salviati right?? I'm always looking for it when I'm hunting, and I'll spend a lot when I come across it. I think they were one of the BEST Venetian glasshouses of all time, INCREDIBLY appealing, artistic work.
