    Painting On Slate by M.Dennis

    Visible portion 15" x 6"
    Overall framing 20" x 11"

This is a nice painting on 2 pieces of slate. Artist appears to be M.Dennis? I believe this is an Arizona souvenir shop buy. Probably a local artist that did these? Seen a few with this name, but no information on the artist. It's very well done.

Hard to photograph due to glare from the glass. Didnt want to attempt to open it up.

They also did framing at that shop. Maybe the artist just had his/her personal art framed?

**UPDATE** I got a response and the mystery solved!

      "Hi Dave,
Yes that was my store in Tucson. I owned it for about 28 years before I left Tucson. It was a gallery, frame shop/gift shop, art supply store and art school.
The piece you are asking about was done by a good friend Marvin Dennis. I did the framing and matting on the piece pictured and it was probably painted in the late 70s or early 80s. I have a couple of Marvin’s pieces in my collection to this day.
Marvin was a Tucson artist and was responsible for starting the Art Barn back in the 70s up in Pinetop. After he passed, I took over running that art co-op and kept to up and running for another 27 years.
Marvin was a great friend and was part native american and had a few bit parts in movies I believe.
Hope this info helps. I actually remember this piece as it was one that was done on 2 stones which was unusual.
      Sincerely,
      Alan Smith"
