My husband and I found this beautiful mantel clock in an antique store. Does anyone know any information about it? It looks like there was a label on the back, but is no longer there. The only markings we can find say Ansonia clock company New York.
Hello PFresbury,
Welcome to Collectors Weekly, Clocks.
You and your husband have a model called the "Clinton". It is from circa 1894 and the case is made of Black Walnut. They originally listed for $5.60 in 1894. That would be the equivalent of about $170 in 2020. https://www.in2013dollars.com/us/inflation/1894?amount=5.60
These so-called Gingerbread Clocks were very popular. It seems that all of the major American Clock Manufacturers offered a wide line of them so there was a lot of competition and the clocks were a good value for a modest amount of money.
Hope that solves your mystery. If so, please indicate "Mystery Solved" in your posting.
Thanks for sharing.

Thank you so much for your help. The clock works and chimes but we are still trying to understand the components so this will help greatly.
You're very welcome. Let us know if you have any questions. Perhaps we can help some more.
Also the center dial is an alarm. Very nice clock!
Thank you!! We were wondering about that center dial and having a hard time finding proper diagrams to know if we are missing something.
