    This guy is just cute, I think he is a Christmas card holder. Please correct if I am wrong. It is cast iron. Not real sure on age. My guess would be 50s, 60s?

      You are right on the age of it and pretty much on what it is for although people found lots of uses for them, cards were the major use. My grandparents had theirs hung in the living room beside the front door. It was common if you had visitors for them to share your greetings and sit down and look at the cards you have. Fun memory of a time long gone.
