This canister is made from pierced metal - chromed - over a plastic or bakelite insert / sleeve. It has a small bakelite knob on the cover and no marks i can see. I'm not sure that it's bakelite. it might just be plastic. Any ideas on age or anything about it? Thank you!

My parents had one of these in the 50- 60's. Bakelite is a plastic. Nice find.
