Does anyone have any idea as to how old this is, it is surprisingly still functional even though it looks really old. The height of it is approximately 6'0

I'm older than dirt and this has a few years on me. I can tell you to take care of it and proceed with caution. Long ago I collected Orvis rods, some were quite valuable and others not so much. Get an expert appraisal to be sure what you have. That doesn't mean someone who buys and sells it means a third party without an aim to own it for resale. If I had it I would begin with the online appraisal at the top of the page. While it isn't an in person appraisal, you send them photo's and as much info as you can. It isn't terribly expensive and will give you a starting point to establish exactly what you have. Try getting a better photo of the trade mark on the reel and the wording and numbers on the tip eye. Also a photo closer up of how the eyes are tied and the thread used. Interesting item. Keep us posted.
