I took another trip to the local charity shop this weekend and spotted this in one of their glass display cases- a very cloisonné looking little egg! What I'd like to know is if it is cloisonné for real or not, that is, the genuine pieces I've googled all seem very elaborate and apart from an odd one or two, this one seems plain in comparison?! Maybe mine isn't real cloisonné and if so how do I know...? And if it IS real cloisonné, is it valuable? I'm staring to think it's not that rare/valuable after looking at Google...
The stand on the bottom is also missing leaving behind a hole in the base and all over it are really intricate little gold filigree inlays with pretty flower designs so it certainly does look good and genuine and apart from the missing base it's in really good condition! The only problem with this being it continuously rolls over and needs to be propped up to stop it falling over, but it is a pretty little thing whether real or not!
Cost- €4(£3.63/$4.86)
Whether it's real or not, it's a wonderful find Lauren! I love it.
Thank you jscotto363! Yeah- I think so too! :P
It’s definitely cloisonné and the cloud shaped wires mean it’s by Jingfa, China. I think the clouds were used around 1960s to 1980s, but it’s a tough recall for me and I might be a bit off for dates. Post war anyway and before 2000.
It’s lovely!
Gorgeous cloisonne egg, what a lovely flower and leaf design! Congrats on a super find
Thanks racer$four- that's a really nice piece of information there on it!
Thanks Newfld! I think its a great little piece too! ;D
