    Hello everyone!
A cast iron Basset Hound boot scraper from my collection. The only Basset Hound in my collection. With that being said, I've heard some refer to this as a Dachshund and others refer to it as a Beagle. Given the colors and the droopy ears, I've always stuck with Basset Hound. It's a two piece design held together with two screws. I have cleaned and repainted him as he looked pretty bad when I originally got him. I do not believe this one is very old, but more than likely from the 1980's or 1990's. Regardless, I still really like him and have him proudly displayed in our home. I do have a few reproductions and some later designs, such as this, in my collection as they too can be a lot of fun to collect. Though it's a boot scraper, we've actually only used it as a doorstop. He's about 13" long, 5" tall and 4" at the widest point.

Thanks for stopping in to see my Basset Hound!

    Scott

The posture of this hound is so much fun, leg back, ready to catapult itself at it's unwilling owner. There's lurve in that dog's face.

Thanks Karen!! He most certainly does look like he's about to catapult. I get that daily from our German Shepherd and Dachshund:)

Thanks Eileen! I sometimes wonder how I tend to remember things as far back as when I was 4 years old, but can't even remember what I had for breakfast today:)
