Here's another potentially 'iconic' (for a moment in time...oops, bad pun...) digital clock radio, a TIMEX model T619T. This one was made in 2002.

The 'new hi-tech gimmick' of these was that their otherwise black LCD time displays were softly backlit by a gentle blue background. They also featured an assortment of built-in 'soft noise' (rain, ocean surf, what have you) preprogrammed sounds, and a truly kinda amazingly good sounding radio/CD player/stereo speakers, for such a little plastic box. MANY of these (or similar models) made their way to (or from?) nightstands in hotel rooms. This one came to me via a church rummage sale.

Unfortunately (I think, for me anyway) all their various control buttons weren't *even* (unfamiliar) user friendly...'form' kinda beat out 'function' in this design IMHO, maybe for lots of other people too. Also, the backlit "Indiglo" display didn't seem to be a thing that turned out to be long lasting, on mine anyway the LCD digits still show clearly as they should, but I haven't seen the backlit part work for years. (or there's some button or setting I've long since lost track of?)

      AnythingObscure,

      Per the manual (page 16):

      *snip*

This alarm clock radio features an adjustable display backlight, with dim, medium, and bright settings. To select a backlight setting, press the Night-Light/Snooze Bar until the desired brightness is reached.

If it doesn't respond to that, then that function probably is kaput.
