Hoping for some feedback about this bill. (I scanned the images through the plastic cover because the paper looks as if it would fall apart if I tried to move it.) There's handwriting on the back and I think it could say, "Cash Clyde for grocery ? ?". Personally, I'm interested in the history of this note (whether real or forgery). Thank you in advance.

Looks to be an authentic CS note.

It is late war (1864) inflation note and in rough condition.

To find more information use "T-65" in your searches-- that is the collector designation for the note.

Lucy Holcomb Pickens woman in center of bill, is related to me through my mother's Holcomb side of the family, she was considered the First Lady of the Confederacy. When the Civil War was in it's last days, she sold her jewelry to finance the war. I don't agree with her politics on slavery.

Pickens was the First Lady of South Carolina at the start of the Civil War.

Varina Davis was the First Lady of the Confederacy.

I have seen Pickens referred to as the Queen of the Confederacy.

Forgot to mention earlier-- this bill was printed in Columbia, SC.
