The only noticeable difference between the 1953 and 1955 model years, besides the elongated exhaust pipes, (and same issue falling off chrome fender trim on opposite side as the 53) was the water powered V-8 engine. The original car had the “blue flame special” engine which was unique to coincide with the whole new concept of the corvette. Also for some reason, this car was given a convertible top from the franklin mint, but not the white one. This car does not have a franklin mint case.
What kind of a roof did the 53 model year corvette have? I find it interesting that franklin mint wouldn’t make a vinyl top for the 53, but they did for the 55.
