Hello everyone!!
Among my many doorstops is this Victorian Era brass bell and tassel door porter, or doorstop if you will. This would have been made in England sometime during the late 1800's. The tassels and rope are really very detailed, as is the bell. It has a cast iron insert to give it some weight. This one stands 17" tall and weighs just over 6lbs. It was very tarnished and in poor condition when I got it, so it took quite a bit of polishing and cleaning to bring it back to it's original glory. The original fabric covering, on the backside, was still there, but had came unglued. I was able to re-glue the fabric back on. The original felt is also still on the bottom, so I did not disturb that.
Thanks for stopping in for a look!!!

Yes Eileen, I too can see this in the hallway of a Victorian mansion. But, for now it'll have to due with a place in our front foyer:) Thanks so very much for the lovely comment!
