So I have no idea what this actually is.
In all my research it matches no known currency engravings. The poorly designed "eagle with chicks?", and the stars on the border. The rest of the design resembles the standard national bank notes from the mid 1860's, until the early 1880's. The company that made the plate went out of business in the mid 1930's so I don't think it was from any kind of souvenir. Does anyone have any information on this copper plate?
Your pictures are blurry. What does it say on the top that is going to be the key. At first I thought maybe playing cards, but dimensions are not right either..

Maybe was used for printing "play money" for a board game or toy use?
So a thought was...maybe colonial currency, but no go there..next thought was early Rhode Island money..

IronLace, that would have been some pretty big play money. It actually matches the size of the original 1860's, and up bank notes. And I've never even heard of "play money" from the late 19th century United States
