Into The Unknown!

It's a cool space ship with a simple illustration and neat graphics on the box.
But who is it?
Who are they?
It's from the apparently vast Imai Space Science Series of plastic model kits. It seems to be based on an animated series, but which one?
The model shoots spring-loaded missiles from those torpedo tubes on either side of the cockpit.
A lot of these model companies tended to want to incorporate an active weapon on every model they made!
Sometimes, they'd have a missile that launched from inside what we know to be an engine!
Didn't matter. Apparently that sold more models!
"It's a model!"
"It's a TOY!"
"Now...IT"S BOTH!!!
What exactly IS the "P1-0"?
Is it some kind of research vessel? Rescue vehicle? ...or just a joy-ridin' hot rod?
We may never know,
but this little ship and it's box with all the interesting Japanese writing has occupied a fun space on my studio wall for over 25 years!
Does anybody out there know who these guys are?
