In the early 1990s, R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. needed a mascot to help sell their cigarettes to a younger clientele.
They introduced Joe Camel to the world.
Joe Camel is a cartoon version of the company's original animal namesake.
He has "Smooth Character".
You can tell that right away. It's written in raised, bright yellow letters on his collar.
With his spiffy black sunglasses and his wry, crooked smile, he became the company's spokescamel for a new generation.
He's pretty cool as a character design, molded out of sturdy brown vinyl with painted details
like that cigarette hanging stylishly out of the side of his mouth.
I found a perfect L.A. Dodgers cap to cover the hole in his head.
See, he's actually a can holder, but I think he looks better with the hat!

Aww yes..ol' Joe! I played a lot of pool when I was younger. I was captain for a bar league pool team(APA). In 1998 we went to Vegas to the National Team Championship, 1 of 466 teams from all over the US. It was the Camel Pool League & Winston Drag Racing foe me!
Lower Alabama ! I need one of those.
