Looking for any info whatsoever about this. Tried Googling and even that tells you nothing about it. No one I’ve contacted knows a thing so this is my last resort. All I know is it’s solid brass. 5 inches long and handmade. Thanks in advance.

Looks to be decorative with artificial aging.

Give it some time for others to add their 2 cents, but I am confident.

I seem to think scottvez may be right but could you post a picture of the other side just to see where and hoe worn the key is?

      I do indeed. Thanks guys!

That one is bogus as well!

A second one of the same style and originating from the tourist trade doesn't bode well for either.

The worthpoint fake just has a different type of fake aging/ patina.

Along with that, the guy says he has sold three of them. A castle key or any other key that old that was verified authentic should command a better dollar. Combined with the fact you can buy Vatican reproduction skeleton keys ( made of brass which is a soft metal) for around $10 online, makes me discount this as being a reproduction. Having both collected skeleton keys and having lived in Europe for a number of years I just don't see this as an original item.

The key is worthless. No good detail, quite poor. Reproduction hence poor quality. Even a key collector would not want to pay a dime. I certainly would not. The shield shows symbols of no meaning. If it is real brass it should be melted down and/or hopefully they will not make any more of them. Even the crown on top looks like it was used as a punching bag !! Don't worry you look young and have some time to make mistakes, this one is a whopper. Maybe I should buy a whistle and bury it for a year and see if that works, or stop collecting keys for sure.

Thanks again everyone. I found it in the attic of my gran dads house. So no loss to me at all. Was just simply curious.

Hardly a whopper of a mistake.

We all have paid to learn.
