Olds Cutlass and 4-4-2: Rockets for The Road

    39 1/2" x 28"
    COST: Thrift store - $10

Picked this up a few weeks ago at the thrift store. I bought it for the frame. But after cleaning it up, it's a very nicely framed poster.

I spotted it easily, because it's big! I have some large prints that would fit nicely in here. But I think it will get hung in the garage for garage art instead.

    4-4-2
The "4-4-2" name (pronounced "Four-four-two") derives from the original car's four-barrel carburetor, four-speed manual transmission, and dual exhausts (Some maintain that the '2' indicated a limited-slip differential).

I try NOT to stray into thrift stores. I would have bought that..

In 1966, GM introduced a three two-barrel carb set up, but they did not change the name to 642. Now the first "4" represented the 400 cubic-inch engine.

I put that L69 tri carb on my "Cutlass" with 455 and 4 speed
      What is that??

In 1965 OLDS started the 'Big Block" 400 for the 442
      1966 saw a few w30 442 with 3 carbs ,,, 54 cars made
400 inch engine Up to HURST OLDS which almost ALWAYS had automatic transmission with a FUNKY Shifter and 455 Monster Motor
