Found in an old desk. Some sort of matchbox cover. The inside box where the matches would go is missing. This outside case is a thin metal over thin wood, almost balsa-like? Black/gold color. Front has an Art Deco looking center with capital letter “E”. Back is plain black. One side edge is the striking surface, the other side edge has “silver plated” around the image of a left-facing rearing lion. Gold outline along all outer edge surfaces. Just curious to find out something about it. Always fun to find unexpected treasures!

The mark 1 standing lion should be the Lion Passant (check my spelling on Passant) indicates a swiss item if I am correct.
