Recently I was inspired to investigate MCM European pottery designs, due to Mark Hill's publication of 2 unique exhibits, with collector and owner of the pieces from Italy and Germany, Dr Graham Cooley.
I really enjoyed his presentation in the SKLO booklet, also from an exhibit with more Cooley glass pieces from the MCM Czech Republic.
It was surprising to find many styles as well as the famous 'fat lava' approach of rough porous and mat finish of mixed dripped glazes, of red with black ash tones.
The 2 new items I am posting are marked as you can see, they are small compared to the large floor vases also produced then, from 6 to 7 inches high. Interesting to learn and see what else they were doing.
Info from site 'Pots And Pots':
"Jasba
1926 – Present (1975 – ceased decorative ceramics)
Founded in 1926 by Jakob Schwaderlapp in Ransbach-Baumbach (who went on to form Ceremano in 1959). The name is derived from his name and the town where it was located (Jakob Schwaderlapp, Ransbach-Baumbach).
Production of vases ceased in 1975 and the company concentrated on industrial items and tiles (which they still make today).
I think Jasba were one of the most creative of the WG potteries.
Look at that lime glaze! Delicious.
Thanks Karen, line green is not my favorite color, but the way they used this on this vase is wonderful. The image is the seller's as well, he is in Germany and I told him I loved his skill with photos, and this piece. He confided that this vase is also a much admired WG pottery item.
You remember Ann, every time I switched gears with stuff she would get exasperated with me, and announced on CW I was not a REAL collector...... lol.
Ahhh yes, Anne. Sad.
Interesting collector, great opinionator, but missed.
Indeed.
Yes, people who leave their mark and are not forgotten.
Thank you for the loves and the comments CW members, always very appreciated.
