Here is a 4"H upward facing glass horse in Boyd's vaseline yellow color Firefly, which glows green under UV light. He was named Joey and has the B in diamond imprint from the 1980s, by Boyd Glass (1978 -)

Why Joey? Why not a noble name like Olympus or something.
I think the given name is not good enough for the creature!
      Boyd have let him down.

That's really cool about the glow he has, but I wonder does he glow because the colour has a (small) amount of uranium in it? I know there are certain vases that glow green and look really interesting. Even without the green glow he's a really great looking horse and yeah the name Joey dosen't seem to be him! He should have a far more epic or Grecian name than that!

Thanks Theonlyone for your great and fun comment, yes it sure was a lot of fun getting a black light - I bought one specifically for this and one other vaseline & uranium glass animals, it photographs quite cool almost like an x-ray! I know you will enjoy using one for depression era glass & stuff

Karen lol it's true, they have named him for a baby kangaroo how dare they!! You know how cutesy Boyd tagged their animals - there is a similar carousel horse they made (I posted it in purple) and its name was Taffy, and there are many others - I shouldn't be so flip about the name Joey, it was our son-in-law's name til he got older & shortened it to Joe. Nice name for a guy but not for a horse - Olympus would definitely be more elegant for this yella fella :) Thank you for your inspirational fun comment!

Thanks Lauren for the super comment and you are absolutely right that vaseline glass does contain some uranium to make it glow, but the content is lower - I did a lot of reading about it, seems pure uranium glass started with depression era glass, which can be put in many different colors of glass and they glow green under UV light, but the vaseline glass is always pale yellow, and the added uranium makes it glow green too. This horse name is definitely too casual & I think Olympus is a fine name too!

Phil he is a very proud horse with that upturned nose, he seems to be about to take off in a gallop! I used to love riding horses as a girl till I fell off one, rolled away and the horse stepped right where my head had been - whew, close call! I still love 'em though, thank you for your wonderful comment

Thank you MrsT for your lovely comment about this showy horse, he's going to get quite conceited from all this praise! Always grateful for your kind words

Really appreciate the super kind love Kurt, very glad you liked my "glowing" yellow to neon green glass horse - the uranium thing is kind of a parlor trick by now but it's still kind of cool in pictures

Thank you Phil for the love for this Boyd horse, one of their larger and more sculpted body animals that's pretty realistic. Much appreciated!!
