New member here. Just bought this Wildwood lamp recently at an antique mall. Paid $2.50. Don’t care for the pattern or colors (teal and purple) on the porcelain and was considering painting it a solid color. I thought a kid might have written on it with a sharpie but an image like this appears in black on both sides (maybe Chinese characters). Was this intentional and does this have value as-is since it’s a Wildwood in very good condition?
Great lamp. You won't get a value on this site, it is just for collectors to share their collections, but I would say it is desirable from a decorative perspective. I would not recommend painting it unless with something that is easily removed. I think the colors are great and a great complement to the color of the decorative canes next to it. You might get an idea of value by seeing what similar Wildwood lamps are selling for on ebay and if you still don't like the colors, try selling it there and buying something else that you like better.
I think I see a bird in that design.
I want to say that the various location you took picture is great, give a really good visual - thanks Lori
Thanks for the comments. It helped me to decide to leave it as-is.
