WWI Trench Art Matchbox Holder
I bought this off etsy. The seller was in Ukraine and it took a month and a half to get here. Although it was bubble wrapped very good, when I opened the package it was broken.
Very disappointed, I contacted the seller. She offered a full refund. I offered to accept a partial refund, but she insisted on a full refund. So I am using the refund to buy another piece of trench art from her. They are now in full quarantine due to covid, so I am waiting for her response. She offered to discount my new item as well.
I tried to solder it unsuccessfully, so I've super glued it temporarily. It's good enough for display purposes until I can attempt a better fix.
Still have 1 more piece of trench art coming from Belgium. It's been almost 2 months and the last tracking was at a U.S. distribution center on the east coast on December 29th. Hoping it's not stolen or lost, because that's a 1 of a kind piece.
Nice save!! Sure sounds like a very reputable seller. It's a really great matchbox holder.
Thanks Scott. I keep meaning to show my Fox Knives USA prototype knife stand...you can see part of it to the right of the trench art. I know how you love the foxes!
Nice match holder, but I wouldn't call it trench art.
I don't see any readily identifiable piece that came from war refuse. Of course it could have come from melted shell brass, but without documentation it could have just as easily come from some other source.
