I'm so psyched i found this today! oddly, there's no sign of shelves in the original. those little shelf brackets were added kind of recently. i'm going to remove them and i'm going to put up a shelf in my house to put this on. i'll find something really cool / surprising to put inside it too. i need to make a little adjustment to allow it to close up. the wood has pulled away over the years. when do you think it was made?

square nails and cut screws capped w/ wood plugs. i think it's a very early first aid box made by Johnson Co. - predecessor of Johnson & Johnson - 1890s.
