Here is a 3"H red glass double horse head paperweight that was originally Heisey mold #1589 intended for an ashtray design, purchased by the HCA (Heisey Collectors of America) and reissued by Dalzell Viking in 1992, stamped HCA 92 and D on base
Love the colors! Very nice
Looking like part of a powerful chess set, this one delivers majesty to all !~
That's a very unusual looking horse head, I have to say it took me ages to figure it out, at first I thought it was an owl wearing comically large glasses(!) Now I see it's an unusual double horse head! The colour is great too, reminds me of cherry candy sweets or something! :D
I agree with Phil, I also see a chest game piece, the Cavalry officer or Knight, with a double head, since the design of these pieces can change a lot over time, possible that was the inspiration.
Very interesting Jenni, thanks for posting.

Thanks clockerman for your great comment, this is a really nice shade of red plus has a touch of amberina gold at the base, it's such a cool horse paperweight design
Phil thanks for your fab comment and you are absolutely right, the heads are like chess pieces and very regal! The red does make it a rather majestic piece, great eye
Thanks Lauren for your super comment and I totally agree it is a cherry red color - had it near a bright window so that is the real color, not quite ruby red as they described it. I know, the horse heads are rather conjoined looking and must have been hard to figure out from the thumbnail, one of the reasons I liked this design is that it's quite unusual
Hi Lisa good to see you and thanx for your wonderful comment & the link. This horse paperweight most definitely could have been chess inspired, although I can see a couple more possibilities - the Teamsters union logo (hubby is a former member) has double horse heads, and I think my friend Ted Straub would agree this would make an excellent horse racing souvenir as it is rather trophy looking. For myself, it's a great paperweight to show my love of horses
Thanks friends for the horse love
