    Hello everyone!
One of my recent finds is this antique match holder. I considered it as equestrian riding boots on a platform, but the 1998 Schiffer Collectible Match Holders book list this one as "Military Boots On Platform". This one has no striker plate and is in much better condition than the one shown on page 31 of the Schiffer Collectible Match Holders book. It's from the early 1900 period, or even earlier, and is made of cast iron. The base is bronze plated. This one also measures slightly larger than the one featured in the Schiffer book and stands 4 1/4" tall, 4" wide and 3 1/4" deep. The boots retain 99% of their original paint. A quick cleaning brought it back to its' original glory.

Thanks for stopping in for a look!!
    Scott

T.hank you Eileen!! This one had been marked down several times and finally I offered 1/2 of the asking price and the seller accepted right away. I think most folks passed on it as it looked to be in rough condition. But, I usually see the diamond in the rough. So, I knew it could be brought back to life fairly easy. Sometimes, you just have to take a chance. I'm glad I did!!!
