Is this paint real gold? It’s gorgeous and I love that the salt and pepper shakers as well as the tea set are hand painted. The shakers say “Japan” in red writing on the bottom. The tea set says “Cunningham & Pickett, inc. warranted 22kt gold hand decorated cardinal Alliance, Ohio” the egg tray and the pie platter don’t have anything on the bottom. But the plate with the wheat says “ golden wheat made in the USA 22k gold oven proof” do any of you know the age of these?

      Hi again, Asherrick2. :-)

Yes, "warranted 22kt gold" means it's real gold. It's not a whole lot of gold, however:

In many cases — not necessarily this one — what people see when they observe a ceramic mark such as the one noted by A.T. is the notation “22k gold” was used to decorate their piece, be it a plate, a vase or something else.

Some people suppose this means the piece has value because of its precious metal content, but in the vast majority of cases, nothing could be further from the truth. In almost all cases, there is not enough gold present to fill even a small cavity on a gnat’s tooth.

Golden Wheat Dishes by Homer Laughlin 22K Gold 50s/60s Free in DUZ detergent 4 Dinner Plates

This is a set of 4 dinner plates designed by the Homer Laughlin Co. for Duz Detergent in the 1950s and 1960s. I remember my mother having these same dishes and remember them coming from Duz.

Duz and Bonus laundry detergents each offered a bonus goodie. Duz offered a free china plate, bowl, cups and later, glass tumblers in each box. Moms would then religiously buy Duz until their china set was complete.
