Asahi Pentax only produced an estimated 788 of these lenses back in 1958. Along with the Takumar 55mm f2.2 lens, this lens was briefly a standard lens on the highly collectible Asahi Pentax S camera but were quickly replaced with the Auto-Takumar 55mm f1.8 lens. Only three small batches were made with this particular lens being from the first batch and known as the second-oldest existing model.
The lens has a Gaussian optical design with an extra element, giving it 6 elements in 5 groups. It has ten aperture blades and produces a unique bubble bokeh that I've found in no other Takumar lens. The colors are rich with solid center sharpness. It has the ability to make backgrounds look like paintings, especially when used wide-open. The only downfall is that is has no lens coatings so flare and CA can pose issues.
I have included three pictures taken with this lens on a Sony A7R4 to show you it's unique character.
ya got one, and a few others .. love it ...nice boka...........
