WWI Framed Soldier Picture
Photo: 15" x 9"
Frame: 19" x 12"
Picked this up today from an estate. I'm still trying to figure it out. Appears to be a blowup of a WWI soldier photo. He is wearing the US block letter right collar pin and what looks like a quartermaster pin? Since the photo is enlarged, it's blurry and hard to see details, like the coat buttons.
At first I thought it was a reproduction, but after getting it home I looked a little closer. What I thought was plastic is a curved glass front. The frame is wood with embellishments and what looks like a veneer. The back has points holding the picture in. And the back of the photo has some numbers on it.
Still not sure if it's really old, but it looks cool and only cost me $10. Frame is in rough shape, but still cool shape with the curved glass front.
nice frame,....
Would the black surround indicate a memorial photo?
Good question. Not sure. His eyes are very enchanting, looks like a fresh soldier ready for action..
