I don't know much about this except that it's old. It's opalescent white glass. It is in two parts - painted shade and candle cup. It might be Bohemian in origin and I don't think it was made for the famous English firm, Samuel Clarke, which usually came with their clear, pressed glass candle insert in the bottom candle holder. The shade is decorated with a bird on each side with leaves and flowers and it is scalloped to allow air flow. Someone might recognize the way it has been painted, especially the birds. The glass is thin and delicate. Height is approx 11 cms and 7.5 cms across the base of the shade.

The bird is so unusual and beautiful- I hope that helps with the identification.

Thanks, Watchsearcher for your appreciation. I think the bird's eye has been treated in an interesting manner and the outstretched wing is quite detailed when you look closely. Is it a robin or a swallow?
