ARCO Metal Sign and Tape Measure
Sign 5"
Tape Measure 1 5/8" (Barlow)
Picked these up yesterday. Gonna hang them in the garage with the other garage art. They are beat up and crusty just like I like it. Only paid $5 for both items
ARCO graphite - Fact. Not Friction.
Nice try..It was a conventional motor oil with suspended graphite in it, so it was black right out of the bottle.
"The theory being that the graphite reduced friction and provided better lubrication and fuel economy. In reality, as the oil broke down, so did the suspending agent and you have all of this graphite deposited on EVERYTHING internally, and if you went back to a conventional motor oil with detergents, the formerly suspended graphite got cleaned off of all the metal parts and became an abrasive, rather than a lubricant."
ARCO
"ARCO was formed by the merger of East Coast–based Atlantic Refining and California-based Richfield Oil Corporation in 1966; the company's name is an acronym of the two companies. A merger in 1969 brought in Sinclair Oil Corporation. In the 1970s and 80s, ARCO was one of the largest companies in the world."
Late 80s to early 90s became a subsidiary of BP, then was bought out by Tesoro.
Pretty cool finds!! And amazing bargain as well!
