Sowerby Green / blue opalescent vaseline boat which is 37.5 cms [15 inches] long and just under 8 cms at its widest point. Reg. no. 42947 stamped on rear, inside bottom of boat and dated 1886. These boats were designed to sit in a stand but it is very rare to see one with its stand present and of course it makes it more desirable and thus valuable. You will notice the two projecting fins on each side of the middle bottom. They kept the boat securely moored on the stand. The opalescence is more prominent on the top edge, prow and rear. The pressed pattern along the boat's length is known as "daisy block".
