I marvel at the skill that is needed to create these small ducks. The white lattice spirals and bright colourful twisted canes are splendidly done. Some have white beaks and others yellow and their eyes are each a little bit different. The duck with blue and white murrines is a favourite though some might not like the brown body colour. He's very handsome to my eye. I don't know if one company made them all and was one of their speciality lines. I have my eye on a white latticino example at the moment but they rarely come up for auction and I know the reason why - they are so collectible! I'm not going to let my ducks get loose. Each has a flat base and a snapped pontil that has been lightly ground. Not sure of their age but probably made over the last 5 decades. Height 7 to 9 cms tall and 7 cms to 11 cms long.
I am amazed at the range of your glass collection Russell.
These are great. I'm like you and the murrine duck attracts me the most.
Thank you once again for the positive comment, racer4four! As you know I don't specialize in one variety of glass. Whether it's old or new doesn't really bother me. I'm attracted to shapes and colours and if an example is rare and affordable I will collect. It's great when you find a representative piece from a famous glass maker. I've collected for over 40 years and picked up some useful information about glass during that time and what's out there continues to amaze and inspire.
