Here is a 5 1-2"H x 8 1-2"W green satin glass phoenix aka dragon bowl from the Cathay series designed in 1943 by Virginia Evans for Imperial Glass, this bowl ca 1960s-1980s
A dragon for Chinese New Year that begins this weekend, 2021 is my husband's birth Year of the Ox
beautiful color on this piece, so enchanting. Lovely
Very cool looking bowl- reminds me of a stylized swan actually? Love the curling neck and elegantly folded wings- the cool turquoise colour is great too!
really like the transparent color .....very cool indeed.....
Nice one Jenni! He's much bigger than I initially thought and I love the color of this one as well.
Seems to really invoke the spirit of a dragon, gorgeous !~
Many thanks for the thoughtful love

Thank you Lori for your great praise and I love your calling this enchanting, there is something very dreamy about this piece in the soft green
Lauren you have nailed it, very evocative of a stylized swan - it makes me think of the swan boat slowly carrying the Prince and Odette across the water at the end of Swan Lake, a ballet I had gone to see maybe 50 times when I had youthful hopes to become a dancer. Thank you for the lovely image and bringing back a happy memory for me
Truly glad you liked this swan couldbe & many thanks for your very nice comment, I'm so glad you enjoyed this glass bowl, it took me alot of photo tries because such a soft color can look washed out in certain lighting
Thanks Scott for your wonderful comment, I can understand why this piece can look smaller as in photos one and four I had to angle the dragon-phoenix so the full body would show in the thumbnail pic. My fave position of this animal is the shell-like wave of its back tail
Phil thank you for your awesome compliments about this dragon piece, in the glass books I have it is pictured and listed under 'glass dragons' yet its original title was a phoenix, so although it is known as either or both, I felt a celebratory dragon is in keeping with a Chinese New Year theme, esp as this is my husband's birth year of the Ox - slow and steady, that describes him, also a very hard worker 'pulling the plow' - married to me, a facetious Monkey, he needs to be lol
i never heard of this , but i loved this
Very cool piece, Jenni!
The colour is stunning and the moulding beautiful.
I love that these old patterns were used for so long. This is a quirky, gorgeous bowl Jenni.
Thank you for the love Kurt & MrsT, it's totally appreciated & very kind of you
apostata thank you for your great comment I am really glad you loved this piece, Imperial Glass was a great glassmaker that used many lovely glass designs & took molds from other famous co's including Heisey
Thank you MrsT for your super comment, it was quite a cool find for me to actually land a neat dragon - it also came in clear glass but in color it's so much prettier
Thanks Karen for your fabulous praise, I totally agree this is quirky & great, I truly love that shell-like curved tail it is like an ocean wave & the color is soft and flowy
Another very nice piece Newfld. Do you have UV light? I wonder if it fluoresces? Thank you for sharing.
Very grateful for the kind love

Thank you so much Bruce for your wonderful praise & keen observ, I do have a black UV light & tried it on this dragon right after your suggestion but alas, this piece does not have a phosphorescent glow. The frosted green glass is pretty cool anyway right, it kinda gave off its own glow near a sunny window (photographed much too pale under regular indoor lighting), I'm so glad you liked it
beautiful specially the colour
Kinki thank you for your really kind compliment, very happy that you enjoyed my glass dragon & I too love the color

I missed this one, and I love the photography and conjures up an image as if you had discovered the Loch Ness Monster. Beautiful !~
Thanks Phil for your wonderful praise for this dragon, he is rather like the Loch Ness monster, very strange but fascinating. Always grateful for your kind words, I try really hard to showcase an item with good photos & happy to know it's appreciated :)
