I've looked and looked with different keywords to find one like this and see what it is, year and material. No marks other than a "17" stamped on the hinge. Looks like silver, but probably sp. Ewer? Pitcher, teapot?
If nothing else, the *handle* on this is a spectacularly fun stylistic touch -- I love it no matter what it is and where it came from?!!
what is the material.... looks like pewter.
it screams Mideastern !!!!!! ... time to chase the rabbit down the hole ..lol good luck.

I thought pewter too, but I think silverplate. Was hoping silver but no marks. The it thing I've found with the braided rope like is was Italian
Still have never found out anything about this or a value
Hi, horserescuer. :-)
Google Lens turned up a near twin:
*snip*
Vintage Turkish Dallah Silvered Brass/Copper Coffee Pot, 12”, Pakistan 1960's
*snip*
https://www.ebay.com/itm/225725194468
It turned up a lot of other near twins, and the descriptions are pretty consistently of a "dallah."
So, basically an Arabic coffee or tea pot.
Thank you!!.that's like it!!
