George Davidson Blue Pearline Canoes

Known by American collectors as 'War of the Roses' and dated to 1900. There is a stamped registration number [212684] on the inside bottom. The canoe sits on 4 stubby feet. Opalescence shown on top rim and raised projections along its length. Pattern is attractive. One boat shows more opalescence than the other - but what happens in the glass furnace should stay in the furnace! An iron mould with the incised pattern would have be cut and shaped by the factory workers. These canoes were also made in opalescent vaseline 'primrose' yellow and also in a variety of sizes. This is the smallest one. Length is 15 cms [6 inches]; height at stern and prow is 6 cms and maximum width is 4 cms. Did they have a commercial function at the dinner table or only meant for decoration? Well, they look nice on the glass shelf!
