It's a rainy morning and I'm on a roll with taking photos of more of my collection - I should be in the garage driving some nails into timber! This is an exquisite piece of old glass in terms of its turquoise colour and elongated shape. The gilding is very much art nouveau in its subject matter. The pattern is repeated front and back and in between. There is something in the lavish use of gilding which reminds me of a Japanese influence. The top is ground flat and the pontil has a fire polished dimple. It's 24 cms tall and base diameter is a little over 5 cms.
