Collectabl…
(310 items)
I picked up this charming silver gilt sweetheart brooch for a fiver hidden away in the wrong category on Ebay. If someone could help with its age and the possibility of finding the identity of the Coat of Arms that would be helpful. Unfortunately someone was hoping the brooch was gold and has scratch tested the item near the unusual clasp end.
The "coat of arms" is more of a "family crest" item as coats of arms are more designed for countries. The family crest actually never had any basis on the families but rather a generic type of crest which is what 99.9% of them are, especially on smalls. If it really was for a family the detail would not be sloppy but probably pin sharp detail. Coats of arms usually have a motto, which this one does not.
Thanks PhilDMorris for the info and advice.
Thanks fortapache, Manikin, vetraio50, Jenni and RichmondLori for the loves.
Here's some information on the trombone clasp which might help you date your pin.
