I believe this is German, only a guess, very strange subject matter, Appear to be a raven eating a falling man's eye while a small figure clings tightly, I decipher the Der Rolle, but everything else is up in the air, interesting is the city skyline printed on it. 7 3/4" x 6", the frame 18" x 14".,
Any information would be helpful. Thank you in Advance

Proverbs 30:17 is the story this picture is referencing, I believe.

I believe you are right, the verse seems to fit the art, now the hope someone knows the language.
      Thanks,

It’s kinda gruesome to look at but the cautionary value makes it something I would definitely display.

I think its not Der Rolle, but
      Der Rache (The Revenge)?
If you find out more let me know!

Watchersearcher : I collect Hungarian artist by the name of Badacsonyi Sándor, Gruesome to look at but the deeper meaning shines .
Radegunder : My German is rusty and you most likely correct with The Revenge.
      Thank you both.

Regarding the little boy figure on the bird’s wing: at first I thought it might be an angel trying to intervene, but, no wings that angels usually are depicted having.
Now I’m wondering it that is the unfortunate man’s “childhood self” now trying to hold off his punisher, wanting to make amends for the childhood wrong-doing that has caused this tragedy to befall the grown man.

      mp.kunst,
It appears you have done great sleuthing, I believe you are correct.
      Thank you very much,
      Steven

Out of curiosity (I concur with "Revenge") what would be the date on this be? Because it doesn't look like a litho...it looks more like a woodblock image. This would increase the value significantly, if this is the case. I know just enough to be dangerous so take my observations with a grain of salt LOL It IS a gorgeous work! I purchased 2 Dali signed prints from his Purgatory series. We have 3 now and all are violent and scary. They remain our favorite pieces! Best, Carmen

      Salome000,
      Thank you,
I never thought woodblock, had my mindset on lithograph.
I seen a few images of his for sale and they generally seem to be the same ones, there not much on him but he had a long career, I believe the key to dating will be the village skyline ?

I want to casually say yes to your suggestion regarding dating by looking at Village skyline but I have to say that is the most brilliant idea I’ve ever heard! Never thought of it...But I certainly will now!
